In Organic We Trust

2012 | 82 min

Are people better off eating organic food? Are organic farms better for the environment? Today, more than half of all Americans eat some kind of organic food. But most people have no idea what organic means. It emerged from a movement towards sustainable grazing through the replenishment of the soil through careful crop rotation and other techniques. When “organic” became a brand, however, everything changed – the movement and the label grew apart.

This film takes a look at the organic food industry and examines its shortcomings. More importantly, it is exploring ways towards a truly ecological, self-supporting agricultural system with local farmers’ markets and urban farmers inspiring new solutions.
