Jumbo Wild

2015 | 52 min | Recommended min. age: 16 y

“Jumbo Wild” is a new feature film by Sweetgrass Productions and Patagonia. In this preview featurette, we travel deep into the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia where the land is wild and backcountry skiing is a way of life.

For the KtunaxaFirst Nation, it is an area known as Qat’muk, the sacred home of the grizzly bear spirit. And, for scientists and conservation groups like Wildsight, the valley is important as part of a critical wildlife corridor, one of only two remaining areas in North America where grizzly bears can freely roam between Canada and the United States. For decades, First Nations, conservationists and backcountry skiers have fought the proposed Jumbo Glacier Resort. What more will it take to keep Jumbo wild for good?

To everyone who derives inspiration from the mountains, it is our responsibility to give back and speak up for these wild lands and all those who inhabit them. Join us, the Ktunaxa Nation, Wildsight and the thousands of locals who have been fighting for the last 25 years to stop development and permanently #KeepJumboWild.
