The best films on the topics of waste, circular economy, up- and recycling, zero waste, plastic and e-waste.
In nature there is no waste. Everything that dies is processed, reused and forms the breeding ground for new growth. Our economy is different. We mine raw materials, manufacture products, buy and use them and then throw them away. The shorter the useful life, the more new goods are produced and bought. The result: mountains of waste, dwindling raw materials, emissions and a huge environmental impact.
The longer we use products, the less we buy. Sharing, reusing, repairing and upgrading: there are many ways to increase the lifespan of products and thus conserve resources. The product is only recycled when it can no longer be used. Manufacturers are also asked to make products as durable as possible and to use “waste” as a resource for raw materials.
The films in this section show exciting ways and solutions of how waste is not created in the first place or how waste can be returned to the material cycle as a resource for raw materials.
