September Wheat

1980 | 96 min | Recommended min. age: 16 y

“September Wheat” is a myth busting film about wheat, famine and those who deal with either.

The documentary shows how American wheat dominates the world market. The methods are international, the effects global. It also discusses hunger – both in rich and poorer countries.

Using one food as an example, it explores the causes of hunger in a time of plenty. What are the motives that turn wheat into a commodity and a weapon, people into victims of wealth, and nature into an enemy?

The film is divided into seven distinct chapters that primarily ask questions about wheat and highlight contradictions.
