Die Wiese

Ein Paradies nebenan

It is the paradise next door - the meadow. Nowhere is it so colourful, so varied and so beautiful as in a flowering summer meadow. Hundreds of species of birds, grasshoppers, cicadas and other animals live among the grasses and colourful flowering herbs of the meadow. The interplay of the species, the dependence of the animals and plants on each other, makes the flower meadow a cosmos in which there is an infinite amount to discover. A fascinating world in which a third of our plant and animal species are at home.

Filmed in never seen pictures and with great technical effort, the documentary presents some of the most beautiful, lovable and bizarre inhabitants of our meadow. The main actors of the film are young deer twins, who lead a life between the edge of the forest and the meadow and take the viewer with them on their adventures.

This film leads the viewer into a world that everyone thinks they know, but is full of wonders and surprises.

Although the film can give the impression that it is a pure children's film, it is not really. It has demanding parts and shows frighteningly how we lose the meadow ecosystem: only 2% are still there.
