Deadly Dust: Uranium ammunition and its consequences
2007 | 92 min | Recommended min. age: 16 y

This documentary by Frieder Wagner tells of a war crime: the use of the uranium ammunitions in Iraq, the Bosnian war and Kosovo. This miracle weapon of the Allies penetrates a hostile tank like a hot knife through butter. Thus burns radioactive uranium, which is also highly toxic and has a half-life of 4.5 billion years, in tiny nanoparticles. When inhaled, they can cause deadly cancerous tumors and deform the genetic code of all creatures for many generations. In the countries concerned, whole regions have now become uninhabitable.

For the first time, after the Gulf War in 1991, the German tropical physician and epidemiologist Dr. Siegwart-Horst Günther called attention to the devastating consequences of such uranium attacks. As a result, he was discredited and persecuted in Germany. The film accompanies him and his American counterparts in their investigations in Kosovo, Bosnia and Iraq, where American troops had used the dangerous uranium ammunition.

The film shows the little-known long-term consequences, from which especially children in the war zone have to suffer. After the end of the recent Iraq war, experts discovered contaminated war sites in the vicinity of Basra, whose radioactive contamination exceeds the natural earth radiation by 20,000 times.
